Winter is a magical time of year to visit Europe. Christmas markets are a beloved part of holiday traditions in Europe. Picture market stalls filling medieval historic town squares in front of centuries-old churches and palaces. Local artisans sell their handcrafted goods—toys, ornaments, decorations, and sweets—and each city established unique traditions that captured the spirit of its people.

Sample Itinerary

  • Upon arrival in Munich you will be welcomed by your tour manager at the airport. Board coaches and transfer to the city centre of Munich.

  • This afternoon enjoy sightseeing tour with passing the Olympic Stadium, 1,000-foot-high Television Tower, Marienplatz with the Old and New Town Hall, and the Gothic Frauenkirche.

  • Check-in your hotel and some time to rest after your long flight.

  • Tonight enjoy a typical bavarian welcome dinner with music, possibly at the Hofbrauhaus.

  • Morning visit of the Bayrisches national museum which hold different types of art, music instruments and above all the museum houses the artistically most valuable and extensive crib collection in the world.( closed on Monday).
  • This afternoon to explore the town’s well-known traditional Christmas market at your own pace on the Marienplatz. There is alpine Christmas music live from the town hall balcony every day! The justly popular Kripperlmarkt, one of the largest in Germany to specialise in cribs and other Nativity accessories, is a short walk away on nearby Rindermarkt.
  • Tonight enjoy dinner on your own and overnight Munich..
  • Early morning departure to visit the castle of Neuschwanstein, the fairy-tale castle of King Ludwig II. Continue journey to Oberammergau. world-famous for its Passion Plays (performances depicting the Passion of Christ) once every ten years , woodcarvers and richly painted house facades Upon arrival enjoy a guided tour of Oberammergau. The tour includes a backstage tour of the Passion Play Theater.

  • Enjoy some free time  before returning to Munich. Dinner on your own and overnight Munich.

  • Please note visit of Neuschwanstein castle is subject to confirmation. Due to high demand of group bookings and limited time slots, this is subject to availability.
  • After breakfast at your hotel, depart for Augsburg (one hour drive from Munich) which has one of Germany’s loveliest and oldest Christmas markets, held for more than 500 years in the delightful setting provided by the impressive Renaissance town hall.

  • Augsburg is especially known for its “Angel Play,” which is performed several times a week during advent. The Angel Play is when angels appear, playing music, and the Renaissance town hall is transformed into a giant Advent calendar.

  • Afternoon continue journey to Nurnberg, which will take approx. 2 hours. Upon arrival enjoy group dinner and overnight Nurnberg.

  • This morning enjoy a guided tour of this historic Franconian capital, with its Gothic churches; 11th-century castle; elegant patrician homes; and 13th-century city walls.

  • The afternoon free time to visit the Christmas Market. Nuremberg’s main market square (Hauptmarkt) in the heart of the old quarter is the setting for the annual ceremony at which the Christkindl (Christ Child) opens Nuremberg’s Christkindlesmarkt, the most famous Christmas market in the world.

  • Every year, over 2 million visitors soak up the medieval atmosphere and romance of this miniature town of Christmas stalls.

  • Don’t foget to taste the “Lebkuchen, one of the culinary delights of Nurnberg.

  • Enjoy dinner on your own and overnight Nurnberg.

  • After breakfast drive to Rothenburg ob der Tauber, one of the best preserved medieval cities along the Romantic Road. Upon arrival in Rothenburg,  you will enjoy a guided tour and see the famous Church of St. Jacob and the richly decorated Patrician Houses.

  • Listen for the Town Hall Clock which chimes once a day to commemorate the 30 Years War.

  • Afternoon enjoy free time to shop in the nearby Christmas Market (the Reiterlesmarkt) , where prized cuckoo clocks, steins, and precious ornaments can be found.  You might want to visit the German Christmas Museum! (not included) and do not forget to visit the Christmas shop of Käthe Wohlfahrt.

  • You will find a wide range of traditional German Christmas decoration. The shop is open throughout the year and has a shop in North America as well.

  • Late afternoon return to Nuremburg for dinner and overnight.

  • Breakfast at your hotel. Board coach and depart for Salzburg. (approx. 3 hour drive)

  • However before arriving in Salzburg, you will visit Oberndorf, famous for its Silent Night Chapel. The story of “Silent Night, Holy Night”, the World’s most popular Christmas Carol, is presented in the Museum and Chapel of Silent Night.

  •   It was at the Romanesque parish church of St. Nikolaus in Oberndorf where the Christmas carol “Silent Night” was first performed in 1818. The Silent Night Memorial Chapel, which stands on the original site of the St. Nikolaus Church, was consecrated on August 15, 1937, after 13 years of construction.

  • Afternoon continue to Salzburg. Upon arrival check-in your hotel. Enjoy dinner on your  own and overnight Salzburg.

  • This morning enjoy a guided walking tour of Salzburg, passing highlights such as the Mirabell Gardens Austria, the Great Festival Hall, ST. Peter Churchyard, and the monumental Domplatz. The tour includes a visit of Mozart’s Birthplace in the charming Getreidegasse. This afternoon, soak up the atmosphere of the Adventszeit (Advent season) and spend some time in the beautiful Christmas market famous for its local handicrafts and imaginative Christmas presents.

  • Tonight enjoy Farewell dinner and overnight in Salzburg.

  • Early morning transfer to Munich airport for your return flight home
